The Costa Blanca or the “ White Coast ” is a more than 160 kilometers coastline of splendid natural beauty and diversity, and of course, wonderful beaches. The temperature is generally mild – the annual average being slightly higher than 17ºC – with little rainfall The Costa Blanca, with its wonderful beaches attracts millions of tourists every year. The landscape comprises of mountains, hidden coves, and the combination of almond tree fields, vineyards, orchards and magnificent palm trees.
There are many attractions alongside the Costa Blanca, some of them specially for tourists like the entertainment park Terra Mitica at Benidorm or the bays of Altea and Calpe. Others are smaller towns and villages like Villajoyosa, Torrevieja and Denia.
Costa Blanca beaches are the main attraction of Alicante holidays, and at high season, there are crowds of people throughout the day. The beaches of Costa Blanca are beautiful with fine golden sands, and clean surroundings. There are the facilities and installations on all the beaches to make the experience enjoyable and safe. There are also restaurants offering fresh seafood in addition to cuisines from all over the world. If you are looking for more than just the beaches, there is a host of sporting activities on offer. Benidrom:
The costal resort of Benidorm is a must visit for its many attractions. It's just 45 km north of Alicante and can be easily reached from the city. It has a historic quarter, as well as wide avenues lined with buildings, shops and terraces, all along the coastline. Stylish and modern, Benidorm's main attractions are its beautiful stretches of sandy beaches. Some of the remarkable sights in the city include; Tossal De La Cala- remains of an ancient Iberian settlement, a temple in honour of the patron Saint- Iglesia de Sant Jaime . It is also a tourist favourite for its seafront hotels, lively nightlife, endless restaurants, and superb shopping opportunities, with Benidorm being home to around 200 nightclubs and discos, more than 1,000 bars, and a host of English-style pubs.
There is a little island of Benidorm , which is reachable by boats. It is a haven for sea diving expeditions. There are famous beaches such as Levante, Poniente, and La Almadraba. The National Park of La Roja can be visited from the city.
Altea
Located between Benidorm and Calpe on the Costa Blanca, lies the resort of Altea. The town is very beautiful and charming with its medieval cobbled streets, its picture book old quarter and the delights of its palm-fringed seafront esplanade. It is also famous for its church Nuestra Senora del Consuelo or Virgen de Consuelo with a magnificent blue roof.
There are several tiny shops offering lical handicrafts, paintings and gifts. You can enjoy local delicacies as well as international cuisine in the restaurants here. There is also a Arts Centre and Concert Hall - the Palau Altea Centre d'Arts for a range of cultural activities and entertainment.
The over 5 km of beaches along Altea are divided into different sections. The Cap Negret north of Altea, followed by the La Roda and the Cap Blanc to the south. Along the yacht harbor you will find the beaches of Pueblo Macarat.
Alicante Beaches
San Juan Beach (La Playa de San Juan )
This is the most popular beach of Alicante city- located around 4.5 miles from central Alicante . The long and open beach has been awarded the Blue Flag of the European Union. It is the perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming with a good selection of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and water sports on the beach. You can also enjoy some exciting water ports here like sailing, diving and Scuba-Diving, jet skiing, windsurfing and more.
Cabo de las Huertas
Situated between the San Juan Beach and the Albufereta, the picturesque coves of Cabo de las Huertas boast the perfect combination of sun, seclusion, rocky coastline and silky sand. Some areas on this beach are designated nudist areas.
Postiguet Beach
This 900 meter golden beach is situated just at the foot of the Castillo de Santa Barbara . The beach is a quick walk from pretty much any part of Alicante , but you can drive down in your hire car or take the local bus.
